On a project spree.

I started on this plushie last Thursday or Friday, and have worked on it non-stop and finally finished it today. I would like to introduce to you, Hestia the HedgeHog.

The hardest part of this plushie and the least enjoyable was her "weave", and I do mean weave since the yarn knots are woven and sewn to each other as well as to the actual plush. So this her hair is not going to fall out any time soon.

I am thoroughly enjoying the act of embroidery, and am happy with the way this came out. I already posted her to Craftster.org, and I am greatly please with all the good feed back that I am getting. I feel that I am getting better and definately more patient with my projects since I started crafting. I think it's mainly because I am getting more patient with my projects.

Actually I may be getting more confident with my crafting would be a better thing to say. I have never been an out going person with my designs, even with my jewelery, and always fear that people will not like what I produce. That, at times, has prevented me from showing off my work, such as forums, for fear of embarassing myself.

Baby steps I suppose.

Still inching closer to open an Etsy shop though.

EDIT TO ADD!!!

Hestia made it to the top five in the 2nd Annual Softies Awards!

A moment to breath.

It has been awhile since I updated this blog. Since the last time I have up rooted from Savannah, GA and are now slowly becoming a local in one of the many neighborhoods of Chicago. We are still trying to get comfortable, but I am still waiting on starting on a new job, so right now I feel like as if I have been on an extensive vacation. I kind of miss working in a studio enviroment and am a bit anxious to start making jewelery again. I still have many earrings that I made in my last month of as a studio tech, I just need to put together everything to open up my etsy shop. The good that has come from it, is that I have been crafting more and frequenting Craftster.org.

I am particularly proud of a plush doll that I made for one of my favorite Professors from SCAD. She was ready to give birth when I left, and she didn't know if they were having a girl or a boy, which made it a little difficult for me to decided what to make. So decided to make something very gender neutral and a classic design, a teddy bear. Made of wool felt and simpled embroidered features with a small vest, she loved it. I love the combination of this hue of orange and brown.

I'm currently working on a hedgehog plushie, much like the one I made for my friend Carlos's little girl this past Christmas, only a smaller. I should be done with it sometime tomorrow.

It's so hard right now for me to work in the apartment. Mainly because all of my supplies are materials are still in boxes. When we moved we just brought the bare essentials and no furniture. I'm currently sitting on a "couch" that I have fashioned together with boxes that house my books. The good thing is that we are 15 minutes from Ikea via the expressway, and already planning what to buy and out to organizes my new crafting/ studio area.

But for right now, I am still keeping up with my embroidery sample and chrocheting.
