I've been attempting to teach myself illustrator in the last few months. I'm starting to get the hang of it, and really enjoy the look and feel of vector images. Of course, I had to make myself a desktop back ground using Illustrator in an obvious pick theme for Valentines Day, click on the image to go to the full background.

Adobe Illustrator is so clean, and my favorite aspect is the ability to resize you image with out it pixelating. Even though I have always been a traditional art type of gal, Drafting table pen and paper, there is a certain graphic desire that I achieve while working directly on the computer.

Especially in this day and age where everything is becoming digitalized. Granted this doesn't mean that I will be putting my pencil down in lieu of a Wacom Tablet, but use it to further my style in design.

Green is the new Black

Every one wants to be green as if it is the newest fashion trend to hit the streets. In a way it is good, because for one in my life that people actually decided it was a good idea to be good the the planet.

I have always tried to do my best when it came to recycling, but if anyone who ever lived in Savannah GA, recycling is as good as an urban myth. Thankfully in the last few years, a small group of residents have been banning together to get the ball rolling on this issue.

This year my goal is to try and cut down on the number of plastic bags that I get when I go grocery shopping. I looked around for grocery tote bags to buy, but didn't like any that I saw. Either they were bulky with a bad screen print canvas, or a thing mesh bag that I knew would not last. As least Wal-mart and Kroger are begining to sell these bags to their customers. In the end I ended up making my own from a denim fabric that I have had for years.

They had to be simple and not to flashy, my first attempt to make a tote with our a pattern. I even added a strap so they can easy storage. They get the job done. The only thing I find annoying is when I go shopping, I tend to use the self check out all the time, and I can't bag the groceries until the end, and some people tend to get irritated because I'll stand there for a minute longer than I would have if I just used the plastic bags.

Oh well.
